    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging INDOT to name State Road 11, from mile marker 44 to mile marker 45, the Trooper Earl L. Brown Memorial Mile.

    Whereas, Trooper Brown was born on January 4, 1913 and began his appointment as a state trooper on October 16, 1940;

    Whereas, Assigned to the Seymour post, he served faithfully for nearly 15 years;

Whereas, While investigating a report of a suspicious male , Trooper Earl L. Brown was tragically killed on August 31, 1955. He was the ninth Indiana State Trooper to be killed in the line of duty; and

    Whereas, In recognition of his bravery and service to all Hoosiers, the Indiana General Assembly urges INDOT to name State Road 11, from mile marker 44 to mile marker 45, the Trooper Earl L. Brown Memorial Mile: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:


    SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly urges the Department of Transportation to name State Road 11, from mile marker 44 to mile marker 45, the Trooper Earl L. Brown Memorial Mile.


    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the family of Trooper Earl L. Brown and the Department of Transportation.
