SENATE RESOLUTION



MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to establish an interim study committee to study gaming issues.

    Whereas, The gaming industry provides revenue for Indiana's economy and jobs for Hoosiers; and

    Whereas, In order to properly assess the impact of gaming on our state, numerous aspects of the gaming industry should receive further study: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to establish an interim study committee to study gaming issues.
    SECTION 2. That the committee, if established, shall:
        (A) assess the gaming industry competitive landscape in surrounding states;
        (B) measure the fiscal impact on state and local revenues caused by increased gaming competition in surrounding states;
        (C) determine the employment impact on Indiana employees caused by increased gaming competition in surrounding states;
        (D) quantify the overall economic impact on the state that will result from increased gaming competition in surrounding states;
        (E) review legislative options available to protect the interests of the state from increased gaming competition in surrounding states; and
        (F) consider the advisability of the general assembly establishing a permanent gaming management oversight commission to

review the gaming industry on a regular basis and make recommendations to the general assembly on the regulation, management, competitiveness, and oversight of the industry.
