MR. SPEAKER:

    I move that Engrossed Senate Bill 621 be amended to read as follows:

SOURCE: Page 1, line 2; (13)MO062136.1. -->     Page 1, line 2, after "Sec. 24." insert " (a)".
    Page 1, between lines 4 and 5, begin a new paragraph and insert:
    " (b) The mayor of a first class city shall hold office during four (4) years and shall not be eligible to serve in that office more than eight (8) years during any period of twelve (12) years.".
    Page 7, between lines 39 and 40, begin a new paragraph and insert:
SOURCE: IC 36-3-3-2; (13)MO062136.9. -->     "SECTION 9. IC 36-3-3-2 IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2013]: Sec. 2. (a) A mayor, who is the executive of both the consolidated city and the county, shall be elected under IC 3-10-6 by the voters of the whole county.
    (b) To be eligible to serve as the executive, a person must meet the qualifications prescribed by IC 3-8-1-24.
    (c) The term of office of an executive is four (4) years, beginning at noon on January 1 after election. and continuing until a successor is elected and qualified. The executive shall not be eligible to serve in
that office more than eight (8) years during any period of twelve (12) years.".
    Renumber all SECTIONS consecutively.
