A HOUSE RESOLUTION urging the Legislative Council to assign to the Indiana Commission on Mental Health and Addiction the task of studying, during the 2013 interim, the topic of adults with a mental illness who are dependant on their families.

Whereas, Adults with a mental illness may be unable or unwilling to seek professional mental health services and may be dependent on their families;

Whereas, Families may not have access to the necessary resources or experience to care for their mentally ill relatives; and

Whereas, Adults with a mental illness who do not receive professional mental health services and whose families are unable to care for them may face homelessness or imprisonment: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives urges that the Commission shall issue to the Legislative Council a final report containing the Commission's findings and recommendations, if any, not later than November 1, 2013, in an electronic format under IC 5- 14-6.
