A HOUSE RESOLUTION urging the legislative council
to assign to an interim study committee the topic of the
environmental and financial impact of the use of wind turbines.
Whereas, Expanding the generation and use of renewable
energy resources in Indiana may have the potential to stimulate
investment, boost income for farmers and other landowners,
and create high paying manufacturing and service sector jobs:
Whereas, However, the environmental and financial impact
of the use of renewable energy resources, in particular wind
turbines, should be thoroughly studied before implementing
these initiatives: Therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to assign to an
interim study committee the topic of the environmental and financial
impact of the use of wind turbines.
SECTION 2. That the committee's study, if established, must
include effects on landscapes, viewsheds, wildlife, habitats, water
resources, air pollution, greenhouse gases, materials acquisition costs,
and potential interference with radar and telecommunication facilities.
SECTION 3. That the committee, if established, shall operate
under the direction of the legislative council and that the committee
shall issue such reports as directed by the council.
