Synopsis: Purchase of Moon Valley property. Requires the department of natural resources to purchase an approximately 57 acre parcel of real property in Michigan Township, LaPorte County, and hold the property in trust as a nature preserve. Appropriates sufficient money from the Indiana natural heritage protection fund to purchase the property.

    A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning natural and cultural resources and to make an appropriation.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SOURCE: IC 14-31-4; (13)IN1379.1.1. -->     SECTION 1. IC 14-31-4 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE AS A NEW CHAPTER TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2013]:
     Chapter 4. Moon Valley Nature Preserve
    Sec. 1. As used in this chapter, "fund" refers to the Indiana natural heritage protection fund established by IC 14-31-2-9.
    Sec. 2. As used in this chapter, "Moon Valley property" refers to a parcel of real estate of approximately fifty-seven (57) acres located in Michigan Township, LaPorte County, locally known as "Moon Valley".
    Sec. 3. (a) The department shall purchase the Moon Valley property with money from the fund.
    (b) Sufficient money from the fund is appropriated to purchase the Moon Valley property.
    Sec. 4. The department shall hold the Moon Valley property in trust as a nature preserve.
