A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning

SECTION 1. IC 12-13-7-22 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE
AS A NEW
SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY
1, 2013]: Sec. 22. (a) As used in this section, "reach out and read
Indiana" refers to a nonprofit organization that is affiliated with
the Reach Out and Read National Center that operates a program
in Indiana to promote early literacy and school readiness in
pediatric medical practices.
(b) The division shall annually donate one-half of one percent
(0.5%) of the discretionary quality funding from the federal Child
Care and Development Block Grant under 42 U.S.C. 9858 et seq.
to support reach out and read Indiana.
