A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION memorializing Sergeant
Bradley Atwell.
Whereas, Sergeant Bradley Atwell, Kokomo, Indiana, was
killed in the line of duty on September 14, 2012, when
Taliban insurgents attacked the joint American-British base
where he was stationed;
Whereas, Insurgents snuck onto the base wearing United
States Army uniforms and set off several explosions, killing
Sergeant Atwell and another Marine;
Whereas, Sergeant Atwell was part of the 3rd Marine
Aircraft Wing and a member of Marine Aviation Logistics
Squadron 13 based in Yuma, Arizona;
Whereas, Sergeant Atwell was awarded the Purple Heart,
which is given to military service men and women wounded
or killed in battle;
Whereas, Sergeant Atwell graduated from Taylor High
School in 2003 and enlisted in the Marines in 2005;
Whereas, Sergeant Atwell is remembered by the faculty and
students of Taylor High School as a hard working,
determined student and athlete, and was "everybody's best
friend";
Whereas, Sergeant Atwell will be remembered as a very loving husband, son, and brother, and an extremely
courageous Marine;
Whereas, The family and friends of Sergeant Atwell can
take comfort in the knowledge that Sergeant Atwell believed
in what he was doing and that he is truly an American hero;
and
Whereas, Throughout history brave men like Sergeant
Bradley Atwell have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of
freedom throughout the world; without men like Sergeant
Atwell freedom could not survive: Therefore,
