    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating Delcie Martin on her 100th birthday.

    Whereas, Delcie Martin turned 100 years old on December 18, 2012. She is truly a testament of time, having experienced some of the most memorable periods of American history;

    Whereas, Delcie is one of only a handful of people who can attest to the events that have taken place over the last century, from the invention of the traffic signal to the creation of the first piece of bubble gum;    

    Whereas, Delcie was raised on a farm near Kouts, Indiana, where she helped plow the fields at an early age. She later married and started a family that has since expanded to include great-great-grandchildren;

    Whereas, Delcie remains devoted to her family. Her sons, along with four generations of family members, were among the hundreds of people who helped celebrate her 100th birthday, complete with birthday cake and old photos;

    Whereas, Delcie attributes her longevity to her healthy eating habits and spiritual involvement;

    Whereas, There are few people as loving and caring as

Delcie Martin. She continues to volunteer her time to benefit others, most recently creating goody bags for social workers during the holidays;

    Whereas, Delcie is often seen emailing friends and family at the computer which she learned to use in her 90s; and

    Whereas, People who know Delcie describe her as a social butterfly who looks forward to celebrating many more birthdays with her friends and family: Therefore,         
    

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:


    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates Delcie Martin on her 100th birthday.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Delcie Martin.
