    A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning education finance.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. IC 21-3-1.9 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE AS A NEW CHAPTER TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE UPON PASSAGE]:
     Chapter 1.9. Excessive Vocational Education and Alternative Education Grants
    Sec. 1. This chapter applies to a school corporation that offers vocational education through programs offered by the Greencastle Area 30 Career Center.
    Sec. 2. If an audit conducted by the department of education before January 1, 2000, determines that a vocational education grant or an alternative education grant received by a school corporation described in section 1 of this chapter before July 1, 1999, exceeded the amount of the grant to which the school corporation was entitled, the school corporation's obligation to repay the amount of the excessive vocational educational grant or the excessive alternative education grant is forgiven and released.

    SECTION 2. An emergency is declared for this act.
