Synopsis: Catering hall alcoholic beverage permits. Provides that a
restaurant with an alcoholic beverage permit may sell alcoholic
beverages in a facility of the restaurant that is used for catered events
and has accommodations for at least 250 individuals without the
designation of the facility as a catering hall. (Current law defines
accommodations as seating capacity for the serving of food in a room
in which alcoholic beverages are sold.)
Effective: Upon passage.

A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
alcoholic beverages.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SECTION 1.
IC 7.1-3-20-24
IS AMENDED TO READ AS
FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE UPON PASSAGE]: Sec. 24. (a) This section
does not affect the requirements necessary to obtain a permit to sell
alcoholic beverages on the premises of a licensed premises.
(b) The commission may designate a licensed permit premises used
exclusively for catered events as a catering hall.
(c) Catering halls designated under this section are not required to
be open to the general public. However, if a designated catering hall
desires to host an event that is open to the general public, the catering
hall shall comply with the notice requirement under
IC 7.1-3-9.5-2.
(d)
A licensed premises that is a restaurant may sell alcoholic
beverages in a facility of the restaurant that:
(1) is used for catered events; and
(2) has accommodations for at least two hundred fifty (250)
individuals;
without the designation of the facility as a catering hall.
(e) The commission shall adopt rules under
IC 4-22-2
to implement
this section.
