DIGEST OF INTRODUCED BILL

Synopsis: Zoo capital projects. Makes the following appropriations
from the build Indiana fund: (1) $32,500,000 to the Indianapolis Zoo;
(2) $10,750,000 to the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo; (3) $5,000,000 to
the Mesker Park Zoo in Evansville; (4) $2,000,000 to the Potawatomi
Zoo in South Bend; (5) $1,000,000 to the Washington Park Zoo in
Michigan City; and (6) $1,000,000 to the Columbian Park Zoo in
Lafayette. Provides that the appropriations must be used for capital
improvements. Requires the zoos to pledge $1 for the capital projects
for every $3 provided by the state.

A BILL FOR AN ACT concerning general provisions and to make
an appropriation.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SECTION 1. [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2001] (a) There is
appropriated to the Indianapolis Zoo thirty-two million five
hundred thousand dollars ($32,500,000) from the build Indiana
fund established under IC 4-30-17 for the period beginning July 1,
2001, and ending June 30, 2003.
(b) Money appropriated under this SECTION must be used for
capital improvements within the zoo. Money appropriated under
this SECTION may not be used to pay the zoo's operating
expenses.
(c) To receive money appropriated under this SECTION, the
zoo must fulfill the following requirements:
(1) Submit a fiscal plan to the budget agency describing the
zoo's planned capital projects.
(2) Pledge one dollar ($1) for the capital projects for every
three dollars ($3) provided by the state.
(d) This SECTION expires July 1, 2003.

appropriated to the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo ten million seven
hundred fifty thousand dollars ($10,750,000) from the build
Indiana fund established under
IC 4-30-17
for the period beginning
July 1, 2001, and ending June 30, 2003.
(b) Money appropriated under this SECTION must be used for
capital improvements within the zoo. Money appropriated under
this SECTION may not be used to pay the zoo's operating
expenses.
(c) To receive money appropriated under this SECTION, the
zoo must fulfill the following requirements:
(1) Submit a fiscal plan to the budget agency describing the
zoo's planned capital projects.
(2) Pledge one dollar ($1) for the capital projects for every
three dollars ($3) provided by the state.
(d) This SECTION expires July 1, 2003.

30, 2003.
(b) Money appropriated under this SECTION must be used for
capital improvements within the zoo. Money appropriated under
this SECTION may not be used to pay the zoo's operating
expenses.
(c) To receive money appropriated under this SECTION, the
zoo must fulfill the following requirements:
(1) Submit a fiscal plan to the budget agency describing the
zoo's planned capital projects.
(2) Pledge one dollar ($1) for the capital projects for every
