| DIGEST OF INTRODUCED BILL Tuition exemptions for relatives of veterans. Allows the child of a person whose mother or father: (1) served in the armed forces of the United States and received the Purple Heart or was wounded as a result of enemy action; or (2) served in the armed forces of the United States during any war or performed duty equally hazardous that was recognized by the award of a service or campaign medal and suffered a service connected death or disability; to receive a tuition exemption from a state college or university. Requires the child to be eligible to pay the resident tuition rate at the college or university the child will attend and possess the requisite academic qualifications to receive the tuition exemption. Limits to not more than 124 semester credit hours the aggregate amount of semester credit hours: (1) a person whose mother or father served in the armed forces of the United States; and (2) all the children of the person may enter, remain, and receive instruction in a college or university without the payment of any fees to the college or university. |
