COMMITTEE REPORT




MR. PRESIDENT:

    The Senate Committee on Finance, to which was referred Senate Bill No. 267, has had the same under consideration and begs leave to report the same back to the Senate with the recommendation that said bill be AMENDED as follows:

    Page 1, line 15, after "file" insert " required under section 2(b) of this chapter".
    Page 2, line 2, delete "The" and insert " Until a county has the capability to transmit the information over the Internet as required under subsection (b), the".
    Page 2, line 3, delete "as follows:" and insert "on magnetic media or other machine readable form to the election division.".
    Page 2, delete lines 4 through 11, begin a new paragraph and insert:
    " (b) Not later than July 1, 2004, a county voter registration office shall transmit the information required by section 7 of this chapter to the election division over the Internet, in a manner and using a method prescribed by the election division, through a secure connection to the statewide voter registration file.".
    Page 2, line 12, delete "(b)" and insert " (c)".
    Page 2, line 13, delete "." and insert " transmitted under subsection (a) or (b).".
    Page 2, line 28, delete "one dollar ($1)" and insert " six million dollars ($6,000,000)".
    Page 2, line 29, delete "2003," and insert " 2004,".
    Page 2, line 30, after "offices" insert " and the election division".
    Page 2, line 30, after "develop" insert " and implement".
    Page 2, line 33, delete "2003." and insert " 2004.".
