Synopsis: Criminal mischief. Makes it a Class A misdemeanor for a person to damage a
locomotive, a railroad car, a train, railroad signaling equipment, or railroad property on a
right-of-way owned, leased, or operated by a railroad company. (This conference committee
report removes language that provides that a person who damages certain property owned,
leased, or operated by a pipeline company or utility company commits criminal mischief, a Class
A misdemeanor. Removes language that makes it a Class D felony if the damage causes a
substantial interruption or impairment of a common carrier pipeline.)
Effective: July 1, 2002.
