DIGEST OF INTRODUCED BILL

Death penalty. Prohibits a court from sentencing a defendant to death or life imprisonment without parole for committing murder if the defendant is found guilty but mentally ill at the time of the crime or enters a plea of guilty but mentally ill at the time of the crime that is accepted by the court.
