DIGEST OF INTRODUCED BILL

Disqualification of felons. Reduces the disqualification period for holding or being a candidate for an elected office to five years after: (1) the completion of the sentence for; and (2) fulfillment of all judgments and orders resulting from; a felony plea or conviction, unless the felony is an offense against the person under IC 35-42. Requires an offense concerning public administration to be a felony before a court may: (1) find a person incapable of holding public office for a fixed period not to exceed ten years; and (2) remove a person from office if the person is an officer of a governmental entity.
