  | DIGEST OF INTRODUCED BILL Defense of property and self-defense. Provides that a person who is in a place where the person has a right to be may use reasonable force against another person to protect the person or a third person from the imminent use of unlawful force. Provides that if a person commits a crime and is injured by the owner of the property or a motor vehicle where the crime occurred, while the crime was occurring, the person is barred from recovering damages arising from the property owner's use of force. Makes conforming amendments concerning rebuttable presumptions. Provides that a person who is justified in using force does not have a duty to retreat. Adds motor vehicles to the places in which a person can be justified in using reasonable force to prevent an unlawful attack. |
