  | DIGEST OF INTRODUCED BILL Civil penalties for unregistered practice. Provides that a person or entity that: (1) practices or offers to practice architecture; (2) practices or offers to practice landscape architecture; (3) practices or offers to practice land surveying; or (4) practices or offers to practice engineering; without an applicable registration or exemption is subject to a civil penalty not to exceed $5,000 for each violation. Requires that the civil penalty be paid not later than 60 days after the effective date of the order imposing the civil penalty. Allows the board of registration for architects and landscape architects, the state board of registration for land surveyors, and the state board of registration for professional engineers to: (1) investigate and take action concerning complaints involving persons the board has reason to believe should be registered; (2) subpoena witnesses and documents; and (3) request the attorney general to bring an action in court to enforce a subpoena. |
