    A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning education and to make an appropriation.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SOURCE: IC 20-20-37; (09)IN1151.1.1. -->     SECTION 1. IC 20-20-37 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE AS A NEW CHAPTER TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2009]:
     Chapter 37. Appropriations for Boys State and Girls State
    Sec. 1. (a) There is appropriated to the American Legion Department of Indiana two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) from the state general fund beginning July 1, 2009, and ending June 30, 2011, for the use of the American Legion Department of Indiana in conducting the Boys State program in Indiana.
    (b) The American Legion Department of Indiana is subject to audit by the state board of accounts through June 30, 2014, for the money appropriated in subsection (a).
    Sec. 2. (a) There is appropriated to the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Indiana two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) from the state general fund beginning July 1, 2009, and ending June 30, 2011, for the use of the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Indiana in conducting the Girls State program in

Indiana.
    (b) The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Indiana is subject to audit by the state board of accounts through June 30, 2014, for the money appropriated in subsection (a).
    Sec. 3. This chapter expires July 1, 2014.
