Use of DNA evidence. Permits, subject to Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) guidelines, the superintendent of the state police department to authorize the investigation of a person genetically related to an individual whose DNA profile is stored in the DNA data base if the results of a DNA test conducted on a DNA sample as part of a criminal investigation do not show an exact match between the DNA sample and the DNA profile stored in the data base but show that the DNA sample matches the DNA profile stored in the data base so closely as to suggest that a person genetically related to the individual whose DNA profile is stored in the data base may be a suspect.
